Property Description
The Ingle-Cleland House, featured in Pacific Northwest Living in 1955, was designed by William Beye Fyfe (apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright) to frame views of Lake Washington & Mt Rainier from a dramatic glass-walled 2-story living room. Fyfe tracked the sun's path and sited the home to maximize views, privacy, and natural light on this large lot. The grandeur of the living room is complemented by the coziness of the family room on the other side of a sunny, mahogany kitchen. Expanded in 1977 by local architect L. Jane Hastings, the home bears many of the hallmarks of Usonian design (limited exposure on the public side, clerestory windows). The garden, with its native plants and unfussy landscaping, was featured in Northwest Living in 1997.
